Attention:
The firmware update doesn't work if the version 4.0A build 000 or an older firmware than 3.8F build 000 was installed and no COMmander 8/16 VoIP module or COMmander VMF module was installed. Please note the hint in the changes.
If you want to update to the current Firmware Version it is necessary to update the COMfortel VoIP 2500AB telephones to the current telephone-firmware (min. V4.0C Build 000) first.
If the update would be done in reverse a single reboot of the telephones could occur.
Warning:
Notes on firmware version V4.2A Build 000 or higher:
That user login in the web interface is now performed by a password. Along with this, a password with a minimum of 6 - digit (alphanumeric) must be used instead of the 6-digit user PIN used previously.
The user password is also used for the authentication of VoIP terminals .
To ensure access to the Web interface and the VoIP subsystem of the ICT system after an update the PINs are automatically transferred to the password field when updating to version 4.2A.
If no PINs were configured by the installer, the password fields remain blank. This ensures that customers without user PIN assignment can continue to use password-less VoIP phones for the time being.
Since VoIP phones without a password are a security risk, the installer (admin) will get a hint that clearly indicates the risk at every login.
Furthermore, on the configuration page of the user PINs it is asked if all empty password fields should be filled with automatically generated passwords.
The installer should adjust all access passwords accordingly to increase the security after an update to version 4.2A.
In the settings of VoIP provider/accounts the country code and area code must be entered correctly.
If this was part of the MSNs previously it must be removed (mandatory!). Without this change, the VoIP trunk access is not functional!
It may be necessary especially for self-configured VoIP providers to supplement the VoIP settings for caller ID .
The naming of the call forwarding in the user interface was corrected.
Note on IP block List:
The firmware version 4.2A is able to fend off DoS attacks. The function IP block list can be specifically overruled by the IP release list in this version for specific IP address.
In the following applications the IP address of the corresponding device must be entered in the IP release list for useful operation :
- Using the COMfortel DECT IP 1040 system
- Connection of various remote extensions using VoIP and the same external IP address
- Sub-operation with several extensions over VoIP
- IP terminals which try to log on in rapid succession with the same IP address at the PABX ( DoS attack ). This applies as well if this terminal wants to register for different subscribers (see also COMfortel DECT IP 1040 )
Note:
Recommended browsers: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome –
Internet Explorer we still cannot recommend!
In the past we have discovered again and again display errors when using Internet Explorer for the configuration of our PBX systems.
The same with the new Internet Explorer 11: There are still limitations. In certain circumstances it was not possible to execute some of the settings in the menu of the PBX properly. Additionally, it was not possible for the webserver in the PBX to detect that Internet Explorers 11 is used. Therefore the specific characteristics of this browser could not be followed.
Therefore we would like to repeat our hint: Please use for the configuration of the Auerswald PBX systems preferably the browsers we have suggested - Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome (in their latest versions).
Note display problems:
If there is an error message right after a firmware update when logging in to the web interface please empty the cache of your web browser or wait about 5 minutes and then register again.
Note:
The feature set of the COMpact systems was increased significantly within the last months. With an update to the version 3.0 or higher, you get the option for Voice over IP external and internal.
After the firmware update you can't use the older system telephones COMfort 1000/1200 and 2000 with all system functions anymore.
Because of technical reasons they are not adaptable for the new features of the PBX.
In the future there will be no further updates for these telephones to adapt them to the software of the new PBXs.
Furthermore Auerswal can not offer support for these telephones using at PBXs with the named firmware.
For using the older system telephones we offer the download of the firmware 2.2 which supports all functions of the telephones.
4.2P Build 000
