How the switch to a secure and intuitive communication system succeeds during ongoing care operations
The Stiemerling Senioren-Residenz is a care facility with directly affiliated day care and an outpatient service in a quiet and pleasant location near the town centre of Königslutter (Lower Saxony). A total of 167 residents are cared for in the facility. The management under Steffi Leinz and her team have succeeded in creating a familiar and cosy atmosphere in which a high quality of life for each individual resident is the top priority.
The initial situation: All signs point to change
The existing telephone system was getting on in years and in some areas network cabling was not possible without great effort. Furthermore, the fire alarm control panel did not indicate on the telephones in which room exactly the fire alarm had been triggered. The procurement of replacement devices also posed a particular challenge, as the previous manufacturer of the system had discontinued the entire business area, leaving the customer in the lurch.
Thanks to the new COMtrexx Health Care solution, a new type of visual signalling is now available on the cordless telephones. It can now be used to recognise the type of alarm even more quickly. This is an enormous increase in safety, e.g. in the event of a fire alarm.
The implementation: Well equipped for any emergency
Through online research, the management came across the Auerswald alarm and localisation features and made an enquiry via the company's contact page. Auerswald responded immediately and, together with an Auerswald partner, discussed the advantages and possibilities as well as the implementation on a modern IP system: the Auerswald COMtrexx including the company's alarm messaging solution. The realisation of IP telephony on the existing wiring also took place in a short time with the support of Auerswald. The nursing staff now receive detailed information on their DECT handsets (COMfortel M-730) and desk phones (COMfortel D-400) in the event of alarms via the nurse call system, fire alarm centre and lift emergency call. The highlight: The alarm messages are also transmitted during a telephone call. In addition, you can hear the ringtone and recognise which alarm it is by means of clear symbols on the display of the DECT mobile phone.
Residence manager Steffi Leinz initially had reservations. Staff would have to adapt to new technologies. This would take a lot of time, which is rare in nursing care. But then she was pleasantly surprised. ‘There was virtually no need to familiarise ourselves with using the new system due to its intuitive operation,’ explained Ms Leinz. ‘We are very happy with our choice of Auerswald. The system makes our daily work easier so that we can focus even more intensively on looking after our residents.’
